Cast : Dulquer Salmaan , Sai Pallavi, Soubin Shahir, Chemban Vinod, Vinayakan.
Direction : Sameer Thaha
Plot : Siddu (Dulquer) and Anjali (Sai Pallavi ) are college sweet hearts , who get married against their parents wishes . Siddu is hot tempered since childhood. Kali is about certain events that take place , when the travels to masvanagudi , to attend a family function .
My views : Kali is about the repercussions Siddu has to face because of his anger ,which erupts in situations that is required and not required . The first half revolves around situations at home and office , where Siddu keeps losing his temper . Siddu played by Dulquer is opposite of what Charlie was in his previous movie,Charlie . Siddu is angry , grumpy and gets irritated for everything.Dulquer dazzles as the angry young man . Sai Pallavi as Anjali has equal screen presence as that of Dulquer. She is cheerful and tries to control Siddu’s anger .She struggles with the language, but it is justified as the character has done her schooling in TN.Their onscreen pairing is fresh and they look good together. The second half is pensive and kept me hooked on to the screen. I liked the way the director builds up thrill and tension in the second half .Soubin Shahir adds to the humor in the first half ,while Vinayakan and Chemban are creepy in the second .Chemban is an antagonist who enjoys seeing his victim cry and shiver with fear. The stunt scenes in the second half are good.I also liked the sequence which involved dulquer chasing Chemban’s truck. The plot is different from what is shown in the trailer. It doesn’t drag too much and doesn’t preach much about anger management. Kali does not have a full fledged story to talk about .Kali is not a love story , I would rather call it an episode from an angry man’s life . Kali is very serious and is a one time watch and I would suggest watching it on the big screen.
Quotes I liked :
Onnu nanaayee koodedo
Thudangi … Upadesham
Pokkam maatre ullu.
Trivia : Kali is the second outing of the duo , Dulquer and Sameer, after NPCB.
