Kammatipaadam delivers brutally .

Cast : Dulquer Salman , Vinayakan , Vinay Fort , Suraaj Venjaaramoodu ,Shaun Romy .
Direction : Rajiv Ravi

Plot : Krishna (DQ) is settled as a security officer in Mumbai . One day he gets a call from his friend , Ganga ( Vinayakan ) , due to which he has to travel home . The movie tracks the events after Krishna reaches Ernakulam .

My view : Kammatipadam is a story of crime , friendship and love . It is set in the 80’s and 90’s. Krishnan and Ganga grow up with Balan chettan as their idol . Bad influence introduces the boys into the world of crime , drugs and murder at a young age .Soubin Shahir makes a brief appearance in Kammatipaadam as the karate guy knows his moves well, he has thus proved that he can take up serious roles as well . The surprise factor here is Vinayakan . He as Ganga is one of the lead actors , he is angry , confused and frustrated at the same time . He has also handled the kochi accent well and I liked the way he modulated his voice . DQ as Krishnan is also angry and is in adoration of Balettan. He sticks onto the world of crime for his friends and will do anything for Balettan and Ganga .However he loses command over the accent now and then . Sometimes the way he cringed with pain made me also cringe with pain.I liked his 40+ look , but he tries to maintain a pout to look serious. Shaun Romy as Anita is meek . Shine Tom has nothing new to offer to Johny , anybody could have done it Many of the supporting characters like Balettan , add authencity to the caste divide that is shown in the beginning . I wish I knew Balan chettan s name , as the character requires special mention .Suraaj Venjaaramoodu as Sumesh ettan is in yet another serious role this time. I would have liked had there been a small mention of how Rosamma rose to power.I liked the way the director tries to add continuity between scenes , by moving to the present state and then moving back to relevant scenes .Kammatipaadam tries to shout out loud that a life of crime is not a happy one and that karma will catch up with you some day . A story like this requires violence for sure , but I would have enjoyed the movie more if the violence portrayed was less . Kammatipaadam is not for the faint hearted .

Quotes that caught me :

Ithu balan aada balan .

Para para para para para.

Nee aanada karate ?

Enikku avane kollanam.

Pani paalina thonunne

Enikku okke Aaru pennu tharaana.

Kochi .. Mera gaav, nahi mera city . Bombay jaisa hai , magar chota hai.

Goof up :

Ganga tells Anita that he has asked Krishna to pick her up . However the phone call to Krishna regarding Anita happens later in the movie .
