Te3n is a Korean remake with a desi touch.

Cast : Amitabh Bachchan , Nawazuddin Siddique , Vidya Balan.

Direction : Ribhu Dasgupta.

Plot : John Biswas is in search of the person ,who kidnapped and murdered his grand child . Police have closed the case , yet he hasn’t lost hope . 8 years later a similar kidnapping takes place . Who will nab the culprit this time , Cops or John?

My view : What s with Bollywood , Korean movies and hooded men ? Te3n is the third remake of a Korean movie to release this month. I decided to watch te3n for the three excellent actors in it , and I didn’t make a mistake .

John Biswas played by Amitabh Bachchan , won’t give up unless he finds the person who kidnapped and murdered his grand child . It’s been 8 years since the event happened and he is still at it day and night ,listening to the recorded call made by the kidnapper. He relentlessly goes to the police station daily to know if there is any progress on the case , though it has been closed . He tries meeting, Father Martin constantly to talk about the leads he has got , even though Father Martin dissuades him and clearly shows his disinterest and irritation. I liked the nuances of an old man that has been picked up by Amitabh Bachchan, the stooping body , the slow steps , the agape mouth. Do I see another national award in the making ?

Father Martin played by Nawazuddin Siddique , a cop-turned-priest,who wants to find peace but is unable due to reasons mentioned towards the end of the movie .He wants to stay away from the case but is pulled into it , when a similar kidnapping case happens again. He is a priest who is still a cop at heart , which is made evident through the passion with which he follows the case the second time . His help is sought by Saritha played by Vidya Balan ,as he is an expert in solving kidnapping cases . Father Martin has flames for Saritha , which hasn’t been put off yet . Vidya balan is supposed to be doing a guest appearance in the movie , though she is present in 80% of the story .She is a cop who wants to shut the kidnapping case.

I liked the style of story telling (you will understand when you watch) .The second half thrills and engages a lot . The scene where John breaks into the kidnappers house had me on the edge of my seat . I didn’t know how John would fight against him if he were caught , coz of his old age . There are a couple of emotional scenes , the one where John trades his scooter for some information was a sad one .Te3n is shot in real locations in Kolkatta .

There is an eerie feeling to the movie in the second half . The movie starts with high on emotions and turns thrilling later . Though the cops failed to provide justice to John , he is determined to find it hinself .The kidnapper can be guessed if you pay attention to certain small nuances.

Te3n didn’t remind me of my grandfather, would he have gone searching for me if I were kidnapped when I was a kid ? Rather , how many grandfathers would have the perseverance as John?   I enjoyed watching Te3n,though it was a little too lengthy . Watch it if you enjoy thrillers or if you love Big B .

Quotes that caught me :

Sab kuch God par chod do

Main sach Bol raha hu.
