Cast : Amitabh Bachchan , Tapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari , Angan Bedi , Piyush Mishra .
Direction : Anirudha Roy Chaudharh .
Plot : Meenal , Falak and Andrea are 3 working women from different parts of the country , living in Delhi . Their life goes for a toss , when they decide to stand up against a bunch of influential boys , who molested them . Advocate Deepak Saigal (Amitabh Bachchan ) comes to their rescue .
My view : Pink revolves around 3 working women living in Delhi .
In the pre interval part , we see them being blackmailed by 4 guys , because Meenal injured one of them . But not much insight is given into the incident that led to this , in the first half .
Pink is a gripping tale and focuses on the problems faced by most of the women nowadays , especially those living in metros .
Amitabh Bachchan as Advocate Deepak Saigal is my favorite in PINK. Pre interval, he is seen walking around with a training mask , wearing a tie and jacket at home where he keeps staring out of his balcony ,at Meenal who happens to stay in an apartment across the road . The stares seem eerie at times . However , action starts as soon as he stepped into the lawyer’s coat .His power packed performance in the second half, gave me goosebumps. He gently terrorizes those inside the stand during the trial. Watch out for his closing statement .
Tapsee Pannu as Meenal is in a role that will get her noticed . She is bold and sticks to her point bravely . I liked the scene where she decided to open up about her virginity in open court.Falak Ali and Andrea support Meenal as her roommates and do not point fingers at each other .
Piyush Mishra as the opponent advocate is one who anybody would dread to have on the opposite side . He heads towards Deepak Saigal like a bull . His powerful body language and dialogue delivery , makes Deepak Saigal look powerless and fragile a lot many times .
Anirudha Roy Chaudhary’s direction has made PINK more intense and emotionally gripping . The way he has portrayed the prying eyes of the society on single working women was something I could relate to . He has shown the different layers of atrocities that women have to face in Indian society . The sarcastic portrayal of women stereotypes and the safety manual for women is a very novel idea . The jail scenes have been captured so well that I could feel the stench emanating out of the screen .
PINK has showcased events which are very relevant and common in today’s society .
I found the song Qaari Qaari very haunting .
Every woman will definitely be able to relate to PINK . I would suggest not missing this one .
Quotes that caught me :
What if something happens to him now ?
Hass hass hass naaa.
Un teeno ladkiyo ko ghar se baahar kar lo aap.
Tum ladkiya ho!
Women aur minors ko bail mil sakta hai.. Non bailable offense ke liye.
We are normal working girls , Mr Saigal.
Nahi kar paaunga main yeh handle.. Ye trial .
Ladkiya ladko ke kamre kyu jaati.
No cross , your honor .
This point leads me to the making of a girl’s safety manual.
He is overacting .
Rule # 2 : kisi bhi ladki ke saat has hass ke baat nahi karni chaahiye, kyu ki woh usse hint samaj leta hai.
Terms and condition differ .
We should save our boys , not our girls . If we save our boys, our girls will be safe .
Venue decide karta hai character , aapke liye ?
What happened to rule # 3 in the safety manual ? After rule #2, the editor makes a jump to rule # 4.
