Dangal strikes gold.

Cast: Aamir Khan,Fathima Sana Sheikh,Sanya Malhotra.
Direction:Nitesh Tiwari.
Plot:Dangal follows the story of Mahavir Singh Phogat and his daughters,Geeta and Babita.

Nutshell view for the time crunched :

+ve:pensive,emotional family drama.

My view:Dangal is a hair rousing tale of finding ways to realise one’s dreams.
The movie begins with a sneak peek into why Mahavir Singh’s dreams of getting gold for his country as a wrestler, never took off.He keeps his spirit alive with the hope of realising his dreams through his sons.fate has other plans for him, when he is blessed with four daughters, one after the other.however,he later realises that his daughters too have the wrestling bug in them and starts training them to be future wrestlers.

I can’t think of anybody else other than Aamir Khan, who would bring justice to the overly confident, focused and grim Mahavir singh.Mahavir Singh will never take no for an answer and will always have his way.He never gives up,even when all around him question him for his decisions.

Omkar had me in splits,in both the teenage and adult version, with his funny expressions.the scene where he helps in cooking chicken, had me in splits.

The kids who play Geeta and Babita, are extremely cute.i liked the scenes, where they try fooling their father during the training sessions.

Dangal focusses more on Geeta’s journey.i feel that is a good strategy, coz viewers would have got confused if the director tried showing the journey of both the sisters.Geeta’s debut dangal match is hair rousing.

More than a sports drama, dangal is a family drama.i liked the support Omkar provides Mahavir Singh and the girls.Mahavir singh initially says a guru cannot be a father and a father cannot be a guru, and he chooses to stay as a guru to his daughters,by not yielding into emotions.

2016 has been a year of movies based on sports for Bollywood.Dangal’s protagonist is one who could not realise his dreams of playing for his country.

Dangal does not bore and I would suggest catching it on the big screen.

Quotes that caught me:
Papa, salwar kameez mein baaga nahi jaata.

Pls papa,baal matt katwaao.

Aise baap kisiko na de.

Medal laane ke liye, support koi nahi deta.

Training centre kaha hai didi?
