Cast : Vijay,Keerthy Suresh,Daniel Balaji,Jagapathi Babu.
Plot: Bhairava(Vijay) is a collection agent, who works for ICCI(no,I have not missed an I in between) bank.It is love at first sight for him, when he meets Malarvizhi(Keerthy Suresh). She turns out to be a damsel in distress and he,her savior.
Nutshell view for the time crunched :
+ve : Dhapankuttu songs and dance moves.
-ve:Boring,typical masala movie with nothing new.
My view in detail : My way of celebrating Pongal, was by watching Bhairava.
Bhairava, starts with a newspaper boy raving about how Bhairava played by Vijay is a stickler for his word and time.Bhairava is then introduced feature by feature, starting with his left eye, followed by his right eye, then both the eyes ,his face and eventually the entire body.
The first half is spend setting up the characters of Bhairava,Malarvizhi and the plot of the story. The first half is set in Chennai and the second half moves to Tirunelvelli.
Bhairava is capable of doing anything. He is the savior of the old and women, alike. He can fight any number of goons,he can fight with a deep stab, and the most ridiculous part in the movie is where the judge extends the last day of the hearing, listening to Bhairava’s emotional monologue. There are also punch dialogues which echo throughout, and a lot of emphasis on Bhairava being a stickler for his time and word.
I didnt find anything great about Vijay in the movie,as he does what he has done in the past.
Surprisingly,Malarvizhi played by Keerthy Suresh has screen presence in Bhairava, and is not reduced to a mere eye candy.20-30 minutes of time is completely focused on Malarvizhi before the interval.
I found nothing, other than the dapankuttu songs interesting. My suggestion would be to avoid wasting money on tickets and popcorn to watch Bhairava. It is not worth watching it on DVD also.Watch it only if you are a Vijay fan.
