The great father is a superhero.

Cast : Mammooty,Arya,Sneha,Anikha,MiyaGeorge,Malavika Mohanan.

Direction : Haneef Adeni

Plot: The great father is centered around a father daughter relationship and the events that follow after the daughter is brutally raped.

My views in a nutshell :

+ve : Engaging , Thrilling

-ve :Arya’s dubbing

My views in detail:

The great father is a movie that has a lot of relevance to the current scenario, where more than half the newspaper is filled with child molestation news. The great father too is centered around child molestation.

Sara David is a teenager who admires her father,David, and boasts about her father’s heroism to her friends and schoolmates.Sometimes it turns out to be irritating to those around her.Less than 15 minutes into the movie,we are pulled into the pensive plot of the movie, when Sara gets brutally raped. The incident tears the family emotionally.

David(Mammooty),who was always considered a superhero by his daughter is distraught by the fact that he couldn’t save his daughter.Driven by guilt,he starts the search for the rapist. In one scene,he is advised by his wife to kill the rapist, who is cancerous to the society. My favorite scene is the one enroute to Katapanna, where David gets stopped by the cops.Watch the scene and I am sure you will end up clapping for it.

TGF02

Arya as Andrews,an undercover cop is stony whose dialogue delivery is even stonier. The voice dubbing has gone completely downhill.I liked the face off between him and David, where he sticks on to his mission, even after repeatedly being put down by David.i also liked his eye opening moment where he realizes that his niece too is open to the danger of being molested.

Kalabhavan Shaji as a sleazy journalist, has done a good job by bringing lot of sleaze and uncomfortable moments on the screen.

Miya George as Dr Susan is a psychotherapist, who i felt was pressurizing the child to be happy so that her parents are happy.

Anikha as Sara had my heart going out to her, especially the scene where she says neither Jesus nor her father rescued her when she was in danger.

Malavika Mohanan is in a very insignificant role, which doesnt have much significance in the context of the movie.

The character of the rapist has an uncanny resemblance to the silence of the lambs, which I would choose to ignore as a minor glitch.

The great father is a thrilling watch.

Most of the times,we read news, but don’t do anything to prevent crimes from happening again, coz we think it won’t happen to us.David rightly says that the read criminals are those who watch the crime and do nothing about it.Though mammooty fans might watch it more than once, those who are not hard core fans of the super star would also like it.
