Cast : Nivin Pauly , Aparna , Baiju , Sreenivasan , Gayatri Suresh.
Direction : Sidhartha Siva.
Plot : Sakhavu is about a life changing day in the life of Sakhavu Kichu(Nivin Pauly).Sakhavu Kichu is summoned to the medical college,to donate blood to a comrade who is very important to the party. Initially he dismisses the comrade who is in the ICU,to be somebody who is just another comrade, but later he gets inquisitive when he sees cops and the chief minister and other senior comrades who come to meet the comrade who is in the ICU.
My view in a nutshell:
+ve : Mahesh’s one liners , The song madhu madhumathiye.
-ve : Boring , Mugged up dialogue delivery.
My view in detail :
I stepped into watch Sakhavu without much expectations.Sakhavu, is Nivin Pauly’s big release after a year(Action hero Biju),and has him in dual roles.
Sakhavu Kichu, the younger version of Nivin Pauly,is into politics to reap the fruits that come along with it.Sakhavu Kichu has Nivin Pauly in his comfort zone, doing comedy in his usual style. There is not much scope for him to perform here.
Sakhavu Krishnan, the comrade in the flashback,is more of a serious person, who is hardly seen smiling.Social service runs in his blood,so much, that he even misses to turn up for his wedding, because of his involvement in social work.He believes that one should help people not when he/she feels like, but when the other demands for it.This belief of his has stuck me on a personal level and I find this to be one of the most powerful dialogues in the movie.
Each one who reminisces about him, claims that he is the best in what he does.He is said to be the best comrade, the best friend who gave up his kidney for his friend’s grand daughter, the best husband who goes missing once in a while and the best father who has never forced his daughter to do anything.
Sakhavu Krishnan is shown from his mid twenties to sixties.
Sakhavu is about these two men. There is not much scope for romance here. There are a lot of action scenes. In one scene,Sakhavu Krishnan is seen beating up goons with one hand, while the other part of body is paralysed.A lot many times I felt Sakhavu Krishnan was just belting out dialogues after mugging them up.Most of the flash back scenes are slow and very boring.
I liked Baiju as Garudan,in a negative role.Though his look reminded me of Sanjay Dutt from Agneepath, the role was a different one,and it is good to see him try out different roles.
Another supporting character,I found refreshing was Mahesh.Mahesh evokes laughter effortlessly with his one liners.
There is Aparna as the Sakhavu Krishnan’ s daughter, who is wasted here.
One scene I liked is the climax scene in post operation theatre, which is an eye opener. This one is going to stay with me for a few more days.
Most of the songs sound revolutionary, the only one which stands out is Madhu, madhumathiye .
Though Sakhavu bored me,looking back Sakhavu Krishnan, did inspire me in bits and pieces. However,I would suggest you to watch Sakhavu only if you have to the patience to watch it.There were moments when I wanted to walk out,but my patience kept me on.This can for sure be missed.
