Wazir is an emotional thriller with a difference.

Cast : Amitabh Bachchan , Farhan Akthar , Aditi Rao Hydari , Niel Nitin Mukesh .

Direction : Bejoy Nambiar.

Plot : What happens when an ATS officer and a handicapped grandmaster who share the same grief , become friends ? Wazir is a tale of friendship shared by Daanish Ali (Farhan Akthar) and Omkarnath (Amitabh Bachchan) .

My views : Wazir starts with the song , ‘Tere bina jeena nahi , marna nahi ‘ , which makes it evident that somebody has to die. The tragedy which happens soon after the song, leads the movie forward. Wazir with a running length of 163 minutes , stays close to its mission. The shoot out in the first half , looks like it has been taken straight out of games similar to Assasin creed and black . Farhan Akthar befits the role of Daanish, the ATS officer. He has done justice to the role with his physique and the stature of his body. He broods with pain and roars with anger. Amitabh Bachchan as Omkar is chirpy and bubbly even after life has presented him with lot of tragedies. I like the small lessons on life, taken from experiences in his life that he gives Daanish once in a while. Aditi Rao Hydari looks pretty, but does not have much screen presence . Neil’s screen presence is less , it is his voice that acts out on his part. His voice is creepy, which further adds to cringy factors in the movie. Manav Kaul as Qureshi plays a villain with his creepy dialogues, which further adds to the creepiness. The theme of chess has been used elaborately in the movie , like a floor which resembles a chess board. The scene that will stay close to me is a midnight scene taken in the graveyard. I also liked the party night between the two actors. The director has kept the thrill consistent throughout the movie , thereby making Wazir an interesting watch. Watch it for the crackling chemistry between the two lead actors.

Quotes that caught me :

Vodka peene ke baad, Pandit maha Pandit ho jaata hai.

Inki beti ko mat maaro pls.

Goof up :

Farhan Akthar appears completely dry after he is seen drenched to the skin in the rain.

Remometer : 3.5/5 .
