Plot : Ki and Ka follows the journey of a career oriented wife and a house husband , played by Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor , respectively .
My take : I decided to watch ki and ka , coz I felt this was the first time the concept of house husband was being explored in Bollywood.Off late , lot of men are opting to be househusband s , so that their women can fly high. Arjun Kapoor spends a lot of time highlighting about the perks of being a househusband and how home makers are the most ignored lot ,in the beginning of the movie,which turns out to be very boring after sometime. The topic of house husbands is an unexplored territory and ,few directors have started to meddle with this topic now . Kareena Kapoor as Kia ,slides effortlessly into the role of the career oriented woman who happens to be the bread winner of the family as well.She gets angry when food doesn’t arrive on time, frustrated when the home maker devotes his time outside home for matters that are important to him and like most of the people , thinks a home maker is not worthy enough.Arjun Kapoor as Kabir whines when the other spouse comes home late , does all the planning of the monthly expenses and takes care of the mother in law.He as Kabir can handle any situation , is the man with a solution to everything and is every woman’s favourite .He has a stoned face and a monotonous tone,in most of the scenes ,which irritates and bores.Why did he do a MBA from IIM(B), when his ambition has always been to be a housewife like his mother .I liked Swaroop Sampat as the single mother with a different take on life . However I found her dialogues in her introduction scene to be slightly over the top.i haven’t seen or heard of mothers who tell their daughters that sex is important before commitment .Like most of the couples , Ki and Ka ,have their fights, and jealousy and insecurity creeps up between the two.Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan have a cute guest appearance in the movie , and the dialogue between the two is a thought provoking one .The songs have the typical R Balki signature touch to it , they reminded me of songs from Cheeni Kum. Ki and Ka could have been made more interesting with better performances by Ka, and convincing dialogues .The plot is interesting but not convincing enough. I would suggest watching this on screen if you have nothing interesting to do, or else it will premiere on tv soon.
