Cast : Ranbir Kapoor , Anushka Sharma , Aishwarya Rai Bachchan ,Fawad Khan.
Direction : Karan Johar .
Plot : Tahir loves Saba , Saba loves Ayan , Ayan loves Alizeh , Alizeh loves Ali , Ali loves music . That’s ADHM.
My views : ADHM has been in the news for quite some time , partly due to its conflict with Shivaay and mainly due to the presence of Fawad Khan in it . Watching ADHM on the first day was on my mind ever since I watched the teaser. I have always been a sucker for romantic movies. I am not ashamed to say that , I have always looked forward to movies directed by KJo for its larger than life portrayal of life on screen.
ADHM is set in London , Paris and Vienna. The lead actors are stinking rich , with nothing particular to do in life . The movie begins very light heartedly , where Ayan and Alizeh meet . It takes us through Ayan’s eyes, where the two get to know each other , then bond as friends and later turn into inseparable best friends. All this happens in a couple of weeks though. But then , anything is possible in movies.
Lisa Haydon is in a guest appearance , I liked the humor she brought in for the short duration she was on screen.
The rapport between Alizeh and Ayan is spot on . I liked Alizeh’s introduction scene . Ayan is the weaker one, while Alizeh is bold and strong. Ayan is the ‘dilfek’ types, who falls for every girl he sees , and he falls hard for Alizeh. There is a lot of talk about heartbreak . I liked the spoof on Chandni . I also liked the pre-wedding scene , between Ayan and Alizeh , for the heavy dialogues and emotions it carries.
MNS wasted a lot of time, unnecessarily protesting about Fawad Khan’s appearance in the movie , because all he has is just 2-3 dialogues .I guess , he has been casted to add some beauty to the screen.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Saba is a poet , and she does a lot of talking in the form of beautiful shaayaris. She comes across as very seductive . I liked her portrayal of maturity in the movie.
There is a 4 minute appearance by SRK , for which , most of us hooted and clapped , with joy.
There is a lot of urdu being used in the movie . I liked ADHM for the realistic dialogues it has used . I liked it , for the poetic portrayal of unrequited love . It dragged slightly in the beginning and towards the end . There are a lot of famous Bollywood dialogues used in the movie .
I liked the second half more than the first half , because it had more emotions and feelings to it . ADHM is a typical bollywood pot-boiler, which has been packed beautifully , with good looking actors , lovely dialogues , beautiful locations captured beautifully on the camera and peppy songs . I would suggest you to catch ADHM , if Bollywood masala is your thing . I am planning to watch it , one more time , simply for the sheer love of the poetic dialogues used in it .
Quotes that caught me :
Tum chewing gum kyu ban rahe ho.
Sauna kitna Sauna hai.
Tum itne touchy kyu ho?
Remometer Legends :
I’m not a huge Bollywood fan. Nevertheless, your take on ADHM leaves me wanting to test the waters tippy-toed (:
Well written, ReMo. And one can easily get carried away with your gushy sentiments for SRK. Although, I must agree, he’s worth it.
From your account, Ash comes across as a special character to watch for in the movie. With shaayari being spouted, I’m more than just inclined to go for a dekko!
Thank you for sharing your views. This weekend shall therefore be named the ADHM Weekend by me… You just gave me cause to 🎉
