Cast : Kunal Kapoor,Himarsha Venkataswamy,Divinaa Thackur
Direction : Jayaraj.
Plot:Veeram is a blend of oru vadakan veeragatha and Macbeth.Kunal kapoor plays the role of Chandu, while Himarsha is Archa and Divinaa Thackur is kuttimaani.
My view in a nutshell:
+ve : Brilliant cinematography,Good story telling.
-ve : over use of vgx.
My view in detail : I was not too interested in watching Veeram initially. But i got interested in watching it when i got to know that,it is a blend of oru vadakan veeragatha and Macbeth.
For me,Chandu has been epitomized by Mammooty as the macho man, with no fears, and as a man with a golden heart, who got into wrong circumstances.Mammooty as Chandu would not err, even unknowingly.Kunal Kapoor as Chandu is shown as somebody who is more human with raw emotions. He is caught between Archa and Kutimaani. He grumbles, cries with fear and has illusions. He has an air of unbeatable arrogance, and ruthless who can slay anybody who comes his way.
Divinaa Thackur as Kutimaani is more evil, while Unniarcha has a lesser role.Unniarcha is shown as the lady scheming to avenge Aromal’s death.
What i liked about veeram is that it comes with a twist and it takes off from where oru vadakkan veeragaatha left.I liked the way the story is told and a lot many times,a boy runs through the village singing folklores.
There is a lot of use of north malabar slang in the movie.Lot of kalaripayattu and theyyam is used as well. There is a lot of use of bright colors in the movie which makes it more appealing.I liked the cinematography also in the movie.
Veeram would have been better had the casting been different. It failed to make an impact though.
Veeram is definitely a one time watch because of the visuals, however it is not suitable for children.
